Helen Clay – Sunderland Mental Health User Voice Service 30/01/15
Hi There Everyone,
A great afternoon was had by many on Wednesday 21st January at Bethany City Church (Bede Tower) where a Sunderland Recovery College event took place.
The Sunderland Recovery College is organised by a partnership of organisations including MHM, Care and Support, NTW NHS Trust, the Carers Centre and Washington Mind. The College aims to place service users and carers at the heart of service planning and delivery and encourages people to co-produce and co-facilitate courses.
Service users and carers work alongside professionals to plan and deliver the courses which support people to develop;
- learning skills;
- gain new and build on existing knowledge;
- levels of confidence.
All of these are part of their individual recovery journey. This is a core idea of the IMRoC (Implementing Recovery through Organisational Change) Model which is what Recovery Colleges are based on. Please click here to learn more about IMRoC
Finally, a special thank you to Val Binns (our roving reporter) for the photographs!
