Newcastle Community Wellbeing Programmes

Mental Health Matters have been awarded funding to run some community wellbeing programmes in the Walkergate and Byker wards of Newcastle Upon Tyne. They are funded by the Community Development Foundation and will initially run for 12 weeks from week begining 13/01/14.

Byker Ward Groups

Come and join “Ruth’s Reminiscence and personal history” sessions – Tuesdays 10am until 12 noon

Relaxation and Wellbeing – Fridays 1pm until 3pm

Both are held at St Martins Centre on Roman Road in Byker

Walkergate Groups

Meet on Tuesdays 10am until 12 noon or Fridays 1.30pm until 3.30pm at Walkerville Community Centre, Pinewood close (less than 5 minutes walk from Walkergate Metro station)

The aim of the groups are to improve the wellbeing of local residents and help break social isolation experienced by many people in this ward by helping communities form new friendships and peer support networks.
