World Mental Health Day Activities

Newcastle

Mental Health Matters Oasis Cafe in Cruddas Park, Newcastle is hosting a 'mini' open day to demonstrate the range of activities Service Users undertake in both the Cafe and the Mental Health Matters employment service, STEP in Newcastle.

The open day will run form 10am - 1pm and they will have a small buffet to show the kind of dishes the trainees produce in the cafe. Stakeholders as well as the general public are invited.

The Phoenix Day Centre, Wallsend, Tyne & Wear

The Phoenix Day Centre is hosting a World Mental Health Day celebration and awards ceremony on Thursday evening in Wallsend, North Tyneside. Staff and Service Users are also participating in celebrations in Baltic Square, Gateshead on October 10th, which will involve a sponsored fun walk along the Quayside alongside other mental health groups.

Tees Valley Day Centres

Members of the Mental Health Matters Day Centres', Reflections in Darlington and The Grange in Middlesbrough are holding a 60's and 70's fashion show with a difference. Service Users have been shopping for outfits, customising old clothes and priactising their walk. They raised money through a two days table top sale, to hire a community centre and provide a buffet. The Butterwick Children's charity shop in Darlington has loaned Reflections some of the outfits needed for the day.
