My name is Mary Peacock and I have been a trustee for 5 years. My husband and I are partners with our son in our family dairy farm and very recently we have diversified into cheesemaking – the speciality of my daughter-in-law. We have two grandchildren. Joe is 14 and like me is an ardent supporter and season ticket holder of Newcastle United. Georgia supports Middlesborough with her father!

I have always had a keen interest in current affairs. I used to do some volunteer teaching [English] at Deerbolt Young Offenders Institution and I soon felt that mental health issues were the cause of some of the offences committed. This experience, together with the mental breakdown of two close friends generated a desire to be more proactive in this field. Mental Health Matters have been very innovative and have grown considerably in the last few years and is justifiably very well respected in the mental health community. I am proud of my connection with this charity.
